Cultural Finds: Along the Intimate Paths of Lamu

Cultural Finds: Along the Intimate Paths of Lamu

We wandered through the sands, crossing the threshold into the intimate paths of Shela, passing freely roaming donkeys along sandy walkways. Wandering became its own form of navigation, until we found ourselves amongst a small cluster of shops. Dimly lit and airy, each space created the backdrop for exploring objects.

Necklace draped around glass jar filled with pothos leaves.

Floral printed robe folded surrounded by pothos vines.

White ring and multi-colored bracelet on a tray with leaves on right side.

Blue clutch with beaded geometric shape sitting on a Masaii blanket.

Cultural objects, another form of collective memory.
